Community Care Bruins

Community Care Bruins is a comprehensive mentorship program based at the University of California - Los Angeles that connects UCLA student volunteers with adoptees and foster children throughout Southern California. Operating for over 20 years, this established organization has grown from its humble beginnings of 7 mentees and 10 volunteers to a robust program serving approximately 14 youth participants and 25 dedicated college mentors.

The program offers structured mentorship services designed to create welcoming, supportive environments where adoptees and foster children can develop meaningful relationships with peer mentors. Community Care Bruins hosts two to three campus events each quarter, providing social activities and networking opportunities for participants to connect with others who share similar experiences. Beyond individual mentorship, the organization integrates comprehensive community support services including fundraising initiatives, outreach programs, and collaborative partnerships.

Community Care Bruins maintains an active partnership with OneSky, extending their impact beyond direct mentorship to provide essential resources including clothing, food, blankets, and financial support for medical care for children in need. The Los Angeles-based organization actively recruits both UCLA student mentors and Southern California youth participants, continuously expanding its capacity to serve the adoptee and foster care community. Through their integrated approach combining mentorship, community engagement, and charitable work, Community Care Bruins has established itself as a valuable resource for families and youth in the greater Los Angeles area seeking supportive community connections and peer relationships.
