Organization of Chinese Americans Asian Pacific American Advocates Wisconsin serves the Milwaukee, WI community with a comprehensive mission centered on social justice, civic engagement, and cultural preservation. As one of 80 chapters of the national Organization of Chinese Americans founded in 1973, OCA-Wisconsin works to advance the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans throughout the state. The organization focuses on four core service areas: advocating for social justice and equal opportunity in fair treatment; promoting civic participation, education, and leadership development; building coalitions and fostering community partnerships; and preserving and celebrating Chinese cultural heritage. OCA-Wisconsin organizes social activities, cultural celebrations, and community events that bring together Asian Pacific American residents and allies. The organization offers membership opportunities for individuals seeking to engage with their community and support advocacy efforts. Through initiatives like the AYP Scholarships program, OCA-Wisconsin invests in the next generation of Asian Pacific American leaders. The chapter actively participates in historical recognition efforts, such as commemorating the Chinese Laundry Era in Milwaukee's history.
