About United Khmer Students at UCLA

United Khmer Students at UCLA is a dynamic student-run organization dedicated to fostering community, cultural engagement, and advocacy within the Los Angeles campus and broader Cambodian community. Based at the University of California - Los Angeles, the organization provides comprehensive programming and initiatives designed to support Khmer students while advancing cultural education and representation.

The organization offers a multifaceted approach to student engagement through social, cultural, and political activities. United Khmer Students hosts regular general meetings, social events, and retreats that create a welcoming environment for both Khmer and non-Khmer students interested in Cambodian culture. The organization also organizes significant cultural events, including annual Culture Night celebrations and Cambodian Genocide Remembrance Day programming, which serve to educate the UCLA community and honor important cultural milestones.

Beyond campus activities, United Khmer Students operates the Khmer Outreach Retention Education (KORE) program, an outreach initiative addressing the underrepresentation of Khmer-Americans in higher education. This program provides direct support to at-risk Cambodian youth through on-site tutoring, field trips, and mentorship relationships with students at Long Beach Unified School District schools. The organization also facilitates networking opportunities across the intercollegiate realm, serving as an active component of the Khmer Student Coalition, a collective of Cambodian organizations throughout California's university system.
